Exploring Our Roots by jazz-bot Exploring Our Roots by jazz-bot
A piece I did for last year's PTA Reflections contest. The theme was "Diversity is..." It made it to state level but didn't do well there. Someone bought it from me today, offering $200. I took that, you betcha.

It's not my favorite piece I've done but the negative space works well and the idea itself is different from what most people would do, I think, so it worked out well. I, frankly, am shocked that people liked it as much as they did. I still cannot get over the fact that I sold it.

Done in coloured pencils.

I love the idea, and I also agree with Moondelev about the Earth looking out the window.

What I really love about this is how you make it look like the Earth is really looking out the window. Maybe it's just me, but it really does seem to have its head tilted, even though its a sphere and that's impossible to perceive.
